"The artist must create a spark before he can make a fire and before art is born, the artist must be ready to be consumed by the fire of his own creation.”

Artist Statement

I am drawn to images and objects that carry layers of meaning: things associated with the impermanence, decay, power, vulnerability, and survival. I work intuitively, building surfaces through layering, erasure, drawing, painting, pattern, found objects, texture, and spontaneous mark-making. The resulting work is a collision between the organic and the manufactured, the delicate and the damaged, the decorative and the threatening.

My paintings are not intended to provide a single answer; they are spaces where opposing feelings exist together. I want the viewer to experience curiosity, attraction, unease, and recognition. Ultimately, I make art that asks the viewer to stay with discomfort and let the mind churn.
